Virginia Hargest, Ph.D., is a Technical Advisor in Ice Miller’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. In this capacity, she advises the team on technical requirements to be used in U.S. and foreign patent applications, technical components for patent interference and litigation proceedings, and technical research and analysis with respect to matters pending before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
She is a skilled molecular biologist and virologist with more than eight years of experience in microbiology and host pathogenesis. Her doctoral research focused on elucidated cellular and viral mechanisms of the regulation and induction of epithelial-mesenchymal transition during human astrovirus infection. Prior to joining the firm, Virginia was a Post-Doctoral Fellow and a Lead Researcher at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
