Drawing on their experience from representing government pension funds in 43 states, the presenters will explore how statutory changes intersect with—and are sometimes constrained by—federal tax and fiduciary rules. The focus will be on common themes throughout the 2025/2026 legislative sessions, including impermissible cash or deferred arrangements (CODAs), non-resident alien member participation, criminal forfeiture, fiduciary roles and responsibilities, unclaimed property and escheatment concerns, and unique considerations for charter schools.
