As Of Counsel in Ice Miller's Public Finance group, Michael McMahon represents underwriters, placement agents, bond purchasers, and financial institutions in tax-exempt and taxable municipal finance transactions across the country. Drawing on over a decade of complex debt finance experience, Michael brings a buy-side perspective that complements the firm's nationally recognized bond counsel practice — one built on more than a century of public finance leadership and consistent top rankings in Indiana, Ohio, and the Midwest.
Michael's practice focuses on serving as underwriter's counsel, purchaser's counsel, and bank counsel in connection with 501(c)(3) revenue bond, charter school and independent school, senior living and healthcare, and public-private partnership and infrastructure financings. He advises institutional clients on securities law compliance, disclosure, structuring, due diligence, transaction documentation, and closing coordination —bringing sophisticated public finance transactions to a successful close.
In addition to his municipal finance work, Michael continues to advise financial institution clients on traditional taxable loan facilities, credit agreements, and related debt finance transactions, providing an integrated approach for banking clients whose relationships span both the tax-exempt and taxable markets. Michael's cross-market perspective — combining deep taxable debt finance experience with a growing municipal finance practice — allows him to deliver practical, commercially minded counsel to clients operating at the intersection of the corporate credit markets and public finance.
