Founded in 1910 as Henley Matson and Gates, Ice Miller has been practicing out of Indianapolis for over 100 years and the firm has spent the last 43 years operating in a space at the One American Square building in the city center.

Chief Managing Partner Michael Millikan told Law360 Pulse on Thursday that with the end of the firm's lease coming up, he and other members of management talked about what kind of space they needed to make "the firm of the future," which ultimately led to the decision to build a new headquarters from scratch.

"I think the move to Bottleworks parallels the arc of Ice Miller's aggressive growth in the last few years, manifesting itself both in the establishment of new offices in Baltimore, Naples, Miami, and Cleveland, as well as in the expansion and upgrade of our current locations all across the country," Millikan said. "We've built out both for new space and to keep pace with how the business of law has evolved through innovation and new technology."
