Sarah Funke is a Senior Counsel in Ice Miller’s Real Estate, Environmental & Energy Law (REEL) Group. Sarah’s primary practice concentration is real estate law, assisting clients with commercial transactions involving the acquisition, disposition, leasing, and finance of real property. She has represented clients with the purchase and sale of various types of real estate in Indiana and other states, including vacant land, multi-tenant office properties, industrial properties, and hotels. She also assists clients with respect to real estate financing transactions and related legal opinion matters. In addition, she has represented landlords in drafting and negotiating commercial leases, with a primary focus on office leasing. Her transactional experience includes extensive experience in drafting and negotiating a wide variety of contracts pertaining to real estate and other business transactions.
Sarah has also practiced in the area of employee benefits law, with a primary focus on welfare benefit plans of for-profit entities. She has worked with clients to design, implement, and maintain their plans in compliance with COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, USERRA, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the Internal Revenue Code, and other laws affecting employee welfare benefit plans.
