Thomas Rammer is an associate in Ice Miller’s Intellectual Property Group.

Tom has broad Federal trial experience in pharmaceutical, semiconductor, software and pro bono matters. He’s familiar with all aspects of the process, from comprehensive risk analysis to consideration of litigation alternatives that focus on achieving successful outcomes for his clients, and briefing and oral argument preparation for Federal Circuit appeals.
 
Tom is proven in oral advocacy, having presented jury trial closing arguments, patent claim construction, motions in limine, summary judgment motions, direct and cross examinations for fact and expert witnesses, substantive motion arguments and discovery and pre-trial motions. He also has experience taking and defending depositions and negotiating with opposing parties.
 
As a senior associate at a national law firm, Tom customized case preparation resources for individual clients and conglomerates based on their specific needs. Additionally, he is adept at drafting legal documents such as pleadings, motions and briefs for state and federal district court and appellate litigation matters and settlement and license agreements.
 
Skilled in comprehensive risk analysis, litigation strategy formulation and deposition and trial testimony preparation for corporate representatives, Tom is an experienced liaison and has acted as the primary point of contact for clients. Notably, he has served as an advisor and strategist on competitor landscapes and business trends and as analyst for litigation alternative solutions including licensing, strategic settlement and patent post-grant procedures.
 
Tom earned his juris doctor, cum laude, from DePaul University College of Law with a certificate in intellectual property and a patent law specialty. He holds a Master of Science from the University of Chicago and bachelors degrees from the University of St. Thomas.
