Cora Steinmetz serves as Of Counsel in Ice Miller’s Government Affairs & Regulatory Law Group and her practice lies at the intersection of health care law and governmental affairs. Her in-depth knowledge and experience allow her to navigate the most complex issues across a wide array of legislative, regulatory, and legal landscapes in the health care sector. She also provides strategic counsel on matters related to public health, health care reimbursement, Medicare, and Medicaid.
Prior to joining the firm, Cora was the director of the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning where she oversaw the implementation of the state’s fourth managed care program, the Indiana PathWays for Aging. As Medicaid director, she was responsible for all aspects of strategic, administrative, policy, and financial operations of the Indiana Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning, which provides health coverage to more than one in four Hoosiers. Prior to her time as Medicaid director, Cora served as senior operations director in Governor Holcomb's office executing the former governor’s health-related agenda including the Governor's Public Health Commission and public health delivery reform, implementation of a comprehensive mental health strategy, strengthening quality and access to early childhood education, care, and kindergarten readiness, and strategies to reduce infant and maternal mortality. Cora has experience in health care price transparency, reimbursement, and revenue cycle compliance, having previously worked for a large hospital system in government payment programs.
