Ann Stewart advises employers and insurers on Indiana's Workers' Compensation and Occupational Disease Act requirements, Board filing requirements, and changes that may impact worker’s compensation claim administration.  She is an experienced litigator who represents employers in Indiana worker’s compensation and occupational disease (including asbestosis and respiratory) claims, as well as the related appellate proceedings.  Ann has successfully resolved complex disputes through mediation and settlement negotiation.

An important focus of Ann’s practice centers on providing advice to employers and insurers about initial claim decisions, investigations, and ongoing claim management.  She regularly provides training to clients to assist those new to Indiana worker’s compensation.  In addition to educating clients about the legal filing requirements and statutory changes, Ann provides advice on the Medicare Secondary Payer Act regulations and employment issues raised by work injuries and occupational disease claims.

Besides being an experienced advocate, clients appreciate Ann’s practical and straight forward approach to resolving disputes.  Her experience prior to joining Ice Miller as corporate counsel in manufacturing and public utility environments gave her a perspective that her clients appreciate.  She provides insightful assessment of the exposures and options for litigating or resolving claims.  If litigation is necessary, Ann works closely with clients to develop an appropriate strategy and develops the claim to provide the strongest possible defense.

Ann believes being a good lawyer requires building long-lasting, trust-based relationships with clients and colleagues.
