Caitlin Podbielski is a partner in Ice Miller’s Business Group. 

With an educational background in health care law and practical experience advising health systems and providers, Caitlin has developed a robust practice working with medical professional associations for a variety of specialty and subspecialty providers. Caitlin regularly advises such clients on matters involving corporate governance, state and federal tax exemption, third-party contract negotiation and enforcement, member and chapter disputes, and corporate transactions including incorporation, reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions. Further, Caitlin counsels member organizations on advocacy communications and strategies, as well as the development and administration of professional conduct and disciplinary programs. 

Drawing upon her experience advising clients from all industries on state and federal privacy law compliance, enforcement and breach response, Caitlin has assisted several professional societies in developing, implementing and administering clinical data registry programs compliant with privacy and clinical research regulations, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) as amended by the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) and the Common Rule. In addition to compliance, Caitlin assists such clients in vendor and participant contracting matters, clinical measure development and licensing, and qualified registry (QR) and qualified clinical data registry (QCDR) requirements as well as Merit-Based Incentive Program (MIPS) regulations. 

Caitlin is a member of ASAE, having served on the planning committee for the annual Association Law Symposium in Chicago from 2016 through 2018, as well as a member of the American Society of Medical Association Counsel.  Most recently, Caitlin was named by Best Lawyers in America 2021 and 2022 editions as “One to Watch” in the category of Health Care Law.
